Outstanding theater

Several theatric events took place lately, the headline being the grand opening of the newly-reconstructed Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater. The ceremony coincided with the 80th anniversary of one of its oldest actors, Oleg Basilashvili. The ceremony was attended by Dmitry Medvedev who decorated Oleg Basilashvili and Alisa Freindlich with orders.

The very next day marked the 99th year since Georgy Tovstonogov’s birth. Being Leningrad’s and Petersburg’s «oasis of aesthetics» with Alexander Blok as its first artistic director, an exclusive cast, deep and relevant performances, that with time grew internationally known – these things make the Bloshoi Drama Theatre so much more, than just a theater.
